It seems like a few of you have handguards on your sleds.
My question is, how did you work around the brake line and handwarmer wires when mounting them?
Im looking into putting handguards on my Polaris, but Im finding that its going to be a PITA because of how the brakeline and heater wires are routed.
In fact, its such a pain that Im probably not even going to put handguards on it.
On my sled, I would have to turn the brake pod up a little to make clearance for the mount around the brake line and I would have to grind a notch out of the right handguard mount so that I dont pinch the handwarmer wire.
Im just curious as to if you have to deal with these headaches when putting handguards on your Yamahas or if its just a Polaris thing.
Thanks

Do you have the snowmobile mounts for the gaurds? Mine go right around all wires and over the brake?

TopGunn and others: are you guys installing the mounts on the inside or outside of the brake/throttle blocks? I don't know if I done this this right but I mounted mine on the outside. Just moved the blocks in a bit. On the brake side I had to grind the pin off the handlebars. Seems to work good because they cover the hooks n' all.

I have seen handguards mounted on the inside of the throttle block before and they really wore out the glove fast. You may want to consider getting rid of or hiding that sharp edge.

PowerValve: I have mine just like you have yours and ive had no problems with anything looks good.
The only thing i seen was the wires for the heated grips come across the mount, but i have my grip twisted down so the wire points down and it doesnt come in contact anymore with the mount.

Never had a problem with my gloves so far, thanks for the heads up though.

Oh yeah! The def keep the wind off your hands, also protects your hand from branches.

Looks good TopGunn, yeah, you can see in my first pic my handwarmer wires go underneath the mount too.

Yes, at some point in time, but I will be riding the Poo for this winter at least.98srx6 said:Arent you getting a Yamaha?
Its not as if I couldnt just take the handguards off the Poo and put them on my Yamaha when I get it. Thats the beauty of the color black, it goes with anything.

I see how you guys are mounting your handguards, but I dont think that will work for my Polaris.
On my sled, the handwarmer wire runs in a hole that goes through the throttle block and brake block, so I would have to cut the grips, relocate the wire and put new grips on.
Its very likely that this winter will be my last year on the Polaris (with a little luck and a 2nd job come summertime), so I have to ask myself, "is it worth all this aggreviation for a sled Im selling soon?" My answer is no.
I appreciate you guys sharing though.
