does anyone know hoe to prevent the recoil rope from fraying i have gone therw i think 3 ropes now i guess it rubs on chain case ?? not touching sitting htere but it is close! anyone know a fix for this it is an 02 viper

There is a plastic insert available from Yamaha that installs between the metal retainer clip and the chaincase. Keeps the rope from rubbing on the case. Sorry I don't have the part#. Someone else on here will I'm sure!

that something that i can get from any shop locally or do i have to call yamaha and get it?
You can only get this item from yamaha

local yamaha will have it.or you can just file the case where it rubs.there was casting junk that broke it.i have a new viper rope if you want.heres the part# for the update rope thing
