I am considering installing an electric start kit on my 02' Viper. Can anyone tell me what is involved with the install? I heard that instructions are not included in the factory kit.

Thanks, G.B.

There are instructions in the Tech Update manuals.

Edit: That is because it was a tech bulletin . . .

pull the clutch, install a ring gear, pull the exhaust, install a starter and b+ cable, install a battery and batery box, unplug and plug in a few plugs, and you're ready to go!!!!! All the plugs are there already, you don't have to mess with the ignition switch , just plug it up and it works!!! Pretty easy... I done one last week... About 2 1/2 hours taking my time!!! Good luck... Gary Oles nosboy

Again go to tech section of this site.you can look at a manual there.Alot of good info in the tech section.

Thanks guys for your info.

You know, I have been all through the tech section on this web site and through the CD copy of the Yamaha Service manual I own and not see any details or exloded views on the electric start set up. All the manual has in it is how to repair the starter motor and diagnois electrical problems. What am I missing????????

In any case, it does not sound like it is a big deal to install and that was what I was looking for.

FYI: I been looking at this electric start kit that is Ebay right now.

This is the one that is missing three parts to the kit. I called my local Yamaha dealer to see if these three parts can still be ordered. They told me that the fuse box assembly that is missing out of this kit is no longer available as an individual part. SO beware if you were watching this kit.

Thanks again, G. B.
