I just found a crack in my w-arm, should I get a new one from Yamaha? Is their arm stronger than the original Should I buy aftermarket, or weld the cracked one? Thanks in advance. Ron

Maxximum Performance sells a reinvorced one. Kinda pricey if I remember right though. Alot of people here have reinforced them themselves with good luck. Maybe someone could post a pic of what they did.

Just have someone good give you a weld job on that sucker. Install some gossets and you should be set. I know there is a good pic of a reinforced W arm floating around this site, check that out. You don't need to buy a new one if you don't have the extra cash to blow, just a good weld job. Good luck

You think maximum would lower the price of their w arm, they would sell a ton of them but since their so expensive people just get their broken ones welded instead.

welded mine, i just rewelded the stock welds around the high stress areas and where it was cracked. Better to get it taken care of now instead of it breaking on the trail

can you have gussets added or have it welded while it's still in the machine?

Take your skid out and do it right. You probably could do it in the machine, but you wouldnt be able to make sure everything is perfectly straight. Also there is a possibility that there are alot of hairline fractures (cracks) that are likely to propogate if not welded up.
