I have a 2001 SXr 700. I changed the Hyfax at the beginning of the season. I put about 750 miles on the sled so far...I looked at the Hyfax the other day, and for the most part there's plenty of meat left on them...But in a few areas (like directly in the middle of the slider where there is no idler wheels) it's worn down to the wear line.
Is this normal? Should I replace them based on this 2" section that's low?
BTW - These are the "good" Yamaha brand Hyfax - Forget the part #, but they are supposed to be better than the standard ones - Maybe graphite or something.
Whadda ya say?

Take a 10mm openend wrench if you can slide it over the Hyfax at any point along the side replace it .Cheaper and easyer than rail .

Run the track on the loose side, with no ratcheting. I've got 3200 miles on mine...this works very well.

Yeah, I thought I had it on the loose side...I'd say it has about 1.5 - 2" of deflection with about 1/2 the weight (10lbs) that Yamaha recommended.
Seems just like in the spots where there are no wheels the hyfax is worn down.
Oh well. I'll try a little looser on these sliders and see what happens.

That would be good with no weight on it .If it doesn't ratchet its not too loose .If it ratchets give it a half turn on each side and try it again .

I see...So just let it droop 1.5" - 2" naturally...ok. I'll give it a shot.
