I have been out of riding for about 8 years now and have now been sucked back in. Just bought a 2001 SRX 700 with and M-10 and 1.25" track under it. After reading the post about the SRX Newbie I have a few other questions.

I notice people are suggesting new shocks. In looking on Yamaha's web site they are showing the Ohlins that fit the earlier models do not fit the 01. What front shocks should I be looking for?

The guy I am buying the sled from also ahs a set of precision skis for it. What are the complaints about the stock skis?

As far as cleaning the power valves am I correct in assuming I get new gaskets, remove the valve and clean it with gas or oven cleaner?

What did you mean about looking for the cable to pull through? Looking for a frayed cable?

Thanks,

Scott

for the power valves, i just use an old chisel, being careful not to gouge or scrape the metal and teflon coating off. Also, brake cleaner works great. Not necessary to replace the gaset, unless it sticks or tears, or has cracks. Also, the cable, they will actually pull through the valve itself. They will pull through the end of the valve, making it inoperable. Hope this helps a little bit
