Im looking at a 99 SRX 600 and was just wondering if they had any problems to watch for? Did they have crank problems like the 98's? or is that only a 700 thing? This one is a 1 owner with 3600 miles and from the pics and also talking with the seller appears to be in excellent condition.
Also, how do the 600's compare to the 700's?
Thanks,

they are VERY fast for 600's, overrev like mad with stock clutching, but can really haul with a good setup. Not going to outrun the 700 in most cases, but it will waste most other 6's and even a lot of 7's. I believe they did have crank problems like the 700's, but not quite as common. All in all they are very good sleds. With a long travel rear kit in the rear they ride nice too.

Check crank run out; do a cylinder leak down test & see if powervalves are pulled thru. I have a killer clutching combo for that sled...i owned 2 of em.

check to make sure the crank update was done, 99% or mroe of the 700's had it done, but alot of the 600's didn't, (alot of dealers called it "unnecessary", since they wouldn't make much if anything on it)
I think the marking was a punch mark infront of the engine VIN on the crankcases, but don't quote me on that, someone will pipe up with it I'm sure.

Crank update was for 98,s only but 99,s that were ridden hard also had issues. Most 99,s were ignored & they had a lot less failures but they did happen.

Yes...I has a 98 and I wish I still had it... Just as quick as the Viper!!! On a flat groomed trail it handled like an Indy car. The only problem I had was when the wiring harness beneath the engine chaffed and ripped through. The dealer took the engine out and re-solddered the wires and it was under warranty when that happend... Like I said great machine..When I sold her she had 6400 miles on it and I wouldn't hesitate to do 200 mile days anytime with her.

I think the 600's were 120 HP and the 700's were 138 HP?
