Hey guys! I am going to be buying one of these if everything goes OK. How much hp can I expect? What about MPH? How fast can it go? Is it a reliable sled? Thanks alot.

Around 60Hp. and top speed of 75-80m.p.h. in hardpack conditions ! The Phazer excells in tight corner to corner and off trail ridding. They sip gas, are light weight and are very reliable. In my opinion the "Best Bang for the Buck" ever ! Best add ons Plastic skis, Cold air kit/exhaust kit, Torque arm, Performance pipe, 136" track and wide front end kits.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a nice sled, do you think it will be a good step up from a '92 Ovation?

I wish I had never parted with my 91 phazer. The 5 inches of rear suspension travel left something to be desired, but otherwise I loved tearing around on that thing.

They were listed at 56 hp stock. Piped, ported, some compression, and flatslides off a vmax make for a pretty reliable 80 horse package.

I recently sold a '90 Phazer II and I wish I would have kept it.
It was reliable, comfortable, fuel-efficient and fun.
I had the certificate of origin for the sled and that claimed that it was 62 hp.
The highest top speed I ever saw on the speedo was 70 mph.
All in all, GREAT sled.

I never drove a Ovation but, I understand they were fairly quick like the Phazers also, the Phazers have alot of low end torque for a 485cc. A single pipe really works well on this engine ~10-12(?) Hp gain !

Thanks for the replys guys, unfortunately the guy sold the sled before I got to it.

I am now looking at a '91 Polaris RXL 650 EFI. Don't hate me!

If you get that RXL (its a good sled, by the way), make sure that you convert it over to carbs.
Polaris used so many different EFI designs from year to year that parts are pretty hard to come by.
My father had a '92 RXL and it was very fast. Just dont let the battery go dead or else you will be stranded.

My Phazer

Hi guys, I just got a phazer '96... I'm new to sledding so I'm wondering if it'll be a good sled for the first one? I haven't driven it yet because we have crappy snow up here right now. So I don't know how it goes yet. Let me know. :rocks:

Its a great beginner sled. Ive been riding sleds for 13 years and the 2 winters that I spent on my '90 Phazer II were 2 of the most fun winters Ive ever had.

Dont give up on a Phazer just yet! There are tons of them out there, I'm sure you can find one or more in you're local classifides or cycle trader mag. Try a dealer who also has used sleds.
"V-max 540" said it best with best bang for your buck, I have 3 now and not one of them cost me more than $600.
I dont know about the H.P. but my first one did around 85mph on a packed road. For a sled as small as a Phazer that seems like mach 2. It's not even piped, but I did get rid of the airbox in favor of foam filters.
Put a long track on it and it's a super little deep snow sled. And nothing is lighter. Around 380 dry I think.

92 Phazer II LE

Hi i was wondering what i would have to do for jetting my sled if i bought a dg pipe and installed it since i recently put boyeson power reeds in it and motor has wiseco pistons? I was also considering an aaen pipe but 400$ is way to damn much!
