Mounting Plastic Skis

Plastic Skis? I see a lot of people selling their skis. Can you mount them on say a 96 600 XT? I would like to put a pair on my 96 600 and my 87 exciter. What would be involved? Can I put a pair of RX-1 Skis on my viper and move the viper skis to the 600? Any help on this would be great.

dont quote me, but i believe you could just bolt up the new skis on both of those sleds asumming the spindles are the same width where they mount up.

Plastic Skis on the Pogo Suspension

I thought that trailing arm suspension skis could not be mounted to a pogo style ski, i.e. old VMAX 600 or Exciter?!

As long as you have a bracket that fits the width and depth at the bottom of the spindle you shold be able to make just about any ski fit, is that right? It's still just one bolt at the bottom, isn't it?

That is what it should look like when done :bling: . This XT is now sold and -01 long travel susp. SRX 700 replaced it.

Hope this helps

What is the thickness of the plastic plates? Can you give a really detailed description of what you have used and done.

When I installed my new USI vx-301's,the mounting aluminum plate is a little lower in hieght.Approx 1" lower. So this drops the front end of my sled.Is this an issue,or don't worry about it.I ordered them foe a Yamaha sled,so why wouldn't they make the same hieght spec as the original.Any other noticed that also when they install new ski's and mounting plates.Just would like to know what you think..that's all.Does this actually trnsfer more weight to the ski's.

Buy a set of skis and cut out a sqaure in the aluminum saddle, get some washers to make up the space between the ski and strut and they will work great. I just put a set of 00 SRX skis on my 96 XT and they are awesome!

You do want to make sure the washers you use have a small enough I.D
so it mates up with the collar inside the end of strut,

you want the collar in the end of the strut to pivot the ski, not wear
on the side of the alum base......$.02

but i'm shure you guys new that....... :) ;)!
