i have a 99 srx 600. it has a bender clutch kit on it. and im going to put a stiffer spring on the primary. i noticed there is a washer under the spring. is this suppose to be there or is is it shim from the bender clutch kit.

It is a shim to up the preload on the spring. It also does a little on a final. It's mostly used to get your engagement where you want it. Why are you putting a "stiffer" spring in. If your over reving and that Bender spring is more than a year or so old, then you need to just buy a new Bender spring for that kit. The springs will sag over a year or two of use and you may be under reving now. I would not just add a stiffer spring or you will slow your sled down. You will not upshift as fast and you might just end up over reving. Clutch it to your target RPM, if your over go with a softer finish spring or more weight in the weights. If your under you need a "NEW" spring or stiffer finish spring or lighter weights. Doug

i keep breaking the bender springs. and i would like my engagement to be a little higher. its at 3800 now the bender spring is a orange. 55preload 135 total force. the spring i want to try is 60preload 135 total force. do you think it will work. i did not install this bender clutch kit so i dont realy know where to start. if i buy another kit. if i buy hammertimes can i just leave the seconday alone with the bender stuff on it.

Actually, my friend busted his Bender orange with a 8mm shim from Bender. He called Bender tech and they sent him a new one at no charge. Tell Bender what you want and tell them you will pay shipping if they give you a spring that won't break and gives you a higher engagement. Doug
