Okay guys here is my situation. I got my cylinders ported and heads shaved. When i line up for a drag race. This is what happens I hammer it and the rpm's go to a smooth 8400 then they fall flat on their face at 7000-7400 and they wont go any where at all untill I let off the gas and hammer it again then that things flies like a mofo and the rpms go right back up to 8500. I think it is the clutch but it seems like something is holding it back.

I have the sled running rich. I dont think that should have anything to do with it. I also have a gutted air box which is now taped up and has only the stock holes.

CAN SOME ONE HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!
 
I used to experience a serious bog on my srx just after I bought it used from a dealer in Ontario and found out it was rich jetting. I have my heads planed .010 and clutched from Knapps Yamaha in Ontario and no bog. Very crisp. But like you said maybe it isn't jets,could be clutching :?:
 
Try tightening up the secondary. been der dun dat exact same thing on my SRX. A little too aggressive clutching that is "just" on the edge will do that.
