Does anyone know if the crankseals can be replaced on a 98 SRX 700 by removing the bottom half of the crankcase. I'm trying to avoid a complete tear down. Also, being a 98' ,do you think it would be a good idea to replace them?

Yes it can be done but extreeme caution is required. Doing it this way does not give you an abundance of room for error. Did one of my 98's this way this year and had no trouble. Be sure the locating pins and the crank seat back in properly.Don't forget to put some two stroke oil in around the oil pump and water pump gear just before closing it up. About 1 ounce. Hope this helps.

The bottom half of the crankcase must be removed to allow for the proper UNDAMMAGED fitting of the seals. They have a lip around the outside to keep them in place.

What is the best way to remove the nut on the mag side? Is it okay to use an impact gun or is there another way of holding the crank from turning?
