pnumatic riveter from harbor freight, no more busted knuckles. ski

I went thru 2 pneumatic riveters in 3 years so I started looking for better quality. I actually got the last one from Mountain Performance and it has been great. Coincidentally I think my mother got it for me for christmas!

I also use an air riveter from harbor freight, the more expensive of the two they carry, it has been great.

Had a problem with a buddies cheap air riveter, wasn't returning the shaft puller all the way back where it belonged. He and another friend got to looking at it, took the bottom off, pulled the piston out and found it was low on oil (pneumatic over hydraulic operation). Added more oil and it was like new again! It would have been a very long night if they didn't get that figured out. I'll never pull steel rivets by hand again!

We just use the hand squeeze rivet gun. For what a pneumatic one costs, it not worth it in my opinion...

a pneumatic riveter is VERY worth the money if you have ever put a yamaha sled back together with OEM rivets. Have fun with a hand riveter.

i sell the zink plated avex/multigrip steel rivets that come in a yamaha sled. 15cents apiece. you will want a good pnematic riveter if you are doing alot. they will break a cheap hand or pnematic riveter after a while.
i also sell the large head aluminum long multigrips for the bellypans for the same price. they are silver though so if you want them black you would need to paint them.
pm me if you need any.

Hand riveter + OEM steel rivets = VERY sore hands and busted knuckles. Not to mention that the steel rivets will soon eat the pulling teeth on most hand riveters.
I have 2 hand riveters just for simple repairs and such. If I need a more heavy duty one I borrow a pneumatic one from work.

My garage is 1 1/2...just enough room for her saturn and a sled....and few other pack-rat items. Got a Golf cart not to long ago and it sits in the backyard.

If you don't have air, you can get a large riveter with long handles that will work well with steel rivets.

How about Rivets ? If you move or replace the rear suspension mounts that are riveted with (blind rivets?) to the tunnel what would you use, conventional rivets or the same rivets the Mfgers. use ? I have all sorts of steel and aluminum rivets with large and small heads which would be best ? Thanks Chuck

they need to be avex multigrip steel for the tunnel and bulkhead, the bellypans are aluminum avex multigrip. i sell either for .15 each plus 3.85 shiipping. avex are the only rivots that will fill both holes before pulling tight and forms a washer behinde for extra support. a regular rivot will only fill the bottom hole leaving the upper to move.

Not sure I would ever need one for 1/4" rivets!!!! Thought either the 6VGA or the 0VGA would be enough - your thoughts??
