if you were to build a mod sled, or just add a part or two, what would you go for first, even if its not readily available (or even available at all)? For example, on my sled the top 3 things I'd like to have would be a Van Amburg tunnel, fuel injected turbo charged completely aluminum *top secret* 2 -stroke engine, and new skid unlike any other in production (136" long, lighter than m-10, transfers like no other, and has the remote control ohlins for on the fly controls, and its not the mono either)

I think a 5-6 speed trasmission, like a dirt bike would be sweet as hell!!!
Kinda like that candian snow cross sled that has the 525 ktm motor in it.

I'll second that Derrty North Racing !!! I would love to have a sled with a hot sport bike engine and tranny in it.

Yea if they could make it chain drivin like a r1 it would be lighter and I think more effecint for put power to the track then belt and clutching. But I could be wrong.
Heres the ktm I was talking about

you would have to come up with some kind of auto shift system though.

there was a crazy fool selling a vmax 540 with a honda cbr 600 motor/tranny in it a few weeks back. seems like a LOT of work for him to get it in there and gain a lot of weight and barely any power... 95hp... seems like you could tune the 540 and get that. porting etc I would assume

I believe I've done this.....twice.
First sled started out as a 97 sx twin. changed to a 700 tripple with ceramic coated tripple pipes, viper front shocks, 128 firecat skid, large face gauges, c&a skis, and a few other goodies. Since no one wanted to buy it, it went somewhat back to stock and got traded this summer.
Now I have a 04 warrior with a supercharger, boss seat, m-10, c&a skis, and a few other goodies. I think this one will keep me going for a while.

cbr 600 engine should be more like 115-118 h.p., 95 would be at the rear wheel. My R6 is about 122 at the crank.

Ya, I thought of that to, and came up with two ideas. First being an auto clutch (semi-automatic) with an eletric shift button by your high/low beam switch or have a clutch and switch the brake to the other side and have a sifter by your left foot.

I thought it was an older one, maybe even a hurricane engine.
