Gains you acceleration by upshifting faster without losing top end. Pulls the engine down between its peak power and peak h.p. for better acceleration. Also very little backshift is lost. Also check center to center and alignment. Want to shoot for 8400 out of the hole, creeping to 8500 on top end. If it still overrevs with the helix, put a 4.5g rivet in the inner hole of the 8EK's.

This is exactly correct. You may very well have to add the heavy 4.5g rivet. It's a good setup.

yamvip, any drawbacks? lower mpg, less low end pull, loss of top end... ANYTHING at all? thanks!
Wrap on the secondary
Hey, I want to try this set up too. Where do I start with the wrap on that green spring in the secondary?

The outer rivet is already a 4.5g, you are changing the INNER rivet to a 4.5g now. The part number is 90261-06033-00 for the 4.5g rivet.
Madmatt: start at 60* on the secondary with the green spring. If you have belt slip or the backshift isn't quick enough for you go to 70*.

Eric you sure are worried about doing this mod, maybe you should forget about it lol. Just razzin ya man. You won't lose any mpg, if anything you might gain a little bit because it will take less throttle to go down the trail. A LOT more low end pull with this setup, and definately no loss on top end if setup correctly, the lower finish angle pinches the belt better on top end and doesn't start backshifting before the primary is fully shifted out, so top end is good.

So it is the inner rivet that gets changed to a 4.5 gram.....
Thanks for the info yamaholic

holic, you made me cry for hours I just am sorta tight on $$ and if this was something I didnt think would work for me I would put the $$ somewhere else on the sled. sounds like it will be sweet and I cant think of another way to spend the $$ and get the same results so I will do it
