Just wondering if Wiesco pistons were any good. I was thinking of doing a rebuild and they seem to be a bit cheaper.

nothing beats the stock yamaha pistons!!!! sinthered metal is the way to go!!!!! Don't let anyone tell you different..... ON A RACE motor,,,that is a different story,,BUT,,, on a stock yamaha,,, the sinthered pistons are STATE OF THE ART!!!!!!Gary Oles nosboy

in a 780, I MAY agree with you,,,, but NOT IN A STOCK SRX... Those stock pistons are a LOT BETTER than any wiseco... The sinthered metal does NOT expand as much and they hold their shape a LOT BETTER than wiseco's!!!!! You can run a LOT TIGHTER tloerances with a STOCK YAMAHA piston compared to a wiseco!!!!! Lot tighter tolerances= more horsepower and less getting past the rings !!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

Yamaha came up with those pistons (sinthered metal) in the early 1970's and used them on their race dirt bikes!!!! they were and STILL ARE the cream of the crop!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

Thanks for the responses. I'll probably stick with the OEM to be safe. One other thing, I noticed once I tore my moter down that the pistons have a hole on the intake side. Is this normal on the OEM piston's

yes, some guys drill them out bigger and take the sharp edges off!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy
