This is for a 2001 SRX 700. There are 3 bearings in the chaincase. One in the cover (for top shaft) and 2 on the case side (behind the gears, one for upper shaft, one for lower shaft). My question is..are these supposed to be sealed bearings? In my case, the top one in the cover, I can see the ball bearings (they look fine) and the other two, on the case side, the "inside the case" side is sealed. And on the "outside the case" (side facing inside of sled) side I can see the ball bearings (again, look fine). Hope I am making sense with my question here. Should both sides of all 3 bearings be sealed? Thanks

The one in the cover is correct, no seal. The other two sound right, but I'm not 100% positive.

Next issue......bottom chain case bearing has to be replaced....fine.... I am having a helluva time getting the snap-ring/circlip out to access the bearing. I am using AmPro snap ring pliers.....tried the straight tip, offset tip, and 90* tip. This is a pretty heavy duty (2" or so) snap ring, is it possible I need heavy duty snap-ring pliers to get this bugger out? Any other suggestions/methods on getting ths retaining ring out that anyone's had success with?

multipupose/ light duty pliers will have trouble getting those clips out.... need a good heavy set that won't flex and slip...
