RE: compression VS HP

Hey guys, I want more power out of my sled, If i just shave my head a little more and increas my compression ratio, and use a higher octane gas or a mix with avgas/premium can I get more HP??

mountianmax.....if you do a head mod than using avgas aint gonna do it...i would get some ultimate 2 or ultimate 4 from vp racing pretty much like using prepium yet 6 % more torque/hp.......oh yeah if you didnt try the gasket mod yet....try that first

I can't get racing fuel here, I live in a remote area in the middle of Labrador, only thin i can get is 100LL av gas, mixed with 91 premium should be about 95 octane, hope it's enough, I think im just gonna remove two of the three gasket layers and try that, and i have an assortment of jets to pick from........Thanks.

What's your elevation? Whenever I hear people talk about high compression sleds and race fuel, I think about detontation, you need to be safe, proper jetting is of course key thing to go with. Do you run pyros?

pyros - AKA/pyrometer - AKA/EGTs - AKA/exhuast gas temps.

Sorry for the slang. I just hope you have some means to watch temps, not saying you will catch detonation before you blow, but will help with setting up jetting etc etc etc.

We tend to get a bit nervous running below 3000' with head mods and higher compression ratios.

Jet that thing fat to get a baseline and run the best fuel you can. You will gain a few ponies but IMHO at higher than accpetable risk.

Aren't you running the Boondockers kit?
