When my machine is at an idle i hear a clicking sound. If i touch the middle power valve cable it goes away , is this because it needs to be adjusted ?

I would check that quick, If the valve has been bad for a long time, it could be touching the piston...........I had one where either the cyl, or the valve was worn and let the valve hang down too low and the rings were touching it, making the same little noise, that one the cable was broken. Never checked to see which part was bad because I had to put a cyl. and a valve on it anyway.

im no expert , but i have had my powervales apart about a hundred times and i cant think of anything that would tick , i would also check that asap , atleast adjust them and see if it goes away , but i would also guess it is hitting the piston ...

Its only at an idle and if i gently put my hand on the middle cable or tug at the cable with really no great force it goes away. The machine has only 1100 miles and ive never owned a machine with power valves that work with cables. You hear it less when the hood is closed.
I bought the machine in June and gave it to a yahama dealer for a tune up i asked him to adjust and clean the power valves. I think i will bring it to my old dealer their a bombardier dealer but work on all brands and at least they are carefull with your machine.

I would check it immediately to make sure it did not detach from the cable and is not coming in contact with the piston. Some guys will tell you it is not possible for the p-valve to hit the piston but I have 2 mashed power valves that say it CAN happen. Remove the valve assembly (held in with four 3.5 or 4mm allen head screws on cylinder above exhaust headers) and check the end of the p-valve (beveled end) to make sure it is not scraped, scuffed, or otherwise damaged.
