Yamaha's on water

Bought a 98 v-max 700, i live skimmin water and ever since i got it everyones been tellin me they are no good on water, is this true ?
anyone got any tips to make it better ? anybody got any water pics ?

hey a fellow newfoundlander and labradorian,
it will be fine on water aslong as you got a good track some transfer and tape up the front vent in the belly pan. if you dont have a good track it will skip water really well just make sure you have a good running start since with a small track it will not want to keep the nose in the air and you will just run across like it was on snow.

Ya, one trick is to put a light under the hood and then turn off all the lights in the garage, ....where you see light coming out, silicone it.
 
I think the front of the tunnels leak alot of water, tip it up and look
I caulked the he!! out of mine
 
ya, above the shock is a really big gap..you have to fill that up or you will go down..believe me!
 
tape up front vents on belly pan and low front on hood and over clutch (just when skippin) to prevent water from hitting belt or clutch. they get wet, you go down. ski

what kind of caulking would be best ? i know some arent good around extreme heat and some are not sposed to exposed to real cold, i guess any window caulking ?

silicone, or better yet, windshield urethane. you can get both at automotive stores. urethane is waterproof and sets up like a hockey puck (good adhesive too) downfall, very messy and stains EVERYTHING! dont get it on yer clothes whatever you doo. ski
