Whats Your Opinion On Electric Start and Reverse !!!!
My buddy is looking at a couple sleds, one has reverse and electric start and the other doesn't.Since I have never had electric start or reverse I could not answer his question, is it really much of a big deal if your sled has these options? Would it make anyone not buy a sled because it didn't have these options? If you are trailering your sled I would assume having reverse would make it easier for unloading off a trailer ??? What do you guys think ? Dicerman

I just got a electric starter for the wife's sled cause she couldn't start it on her own. Now I don't have to provide valet starting service anymore. I don't mind pull starting my machine. Another thing to consider is that electric start adds about 15 lbs.
Reverse is a definate plus. Unloading from the trailer is a breeze, and turning around on the trail is quick and painless. I won't be without reverse again.

Same here, after having reverse, I'll never own another sled without it. You don't really need electric start though, most Yamaha's are fairly easy to pull over and not having a battery is one less thing you have to take care of.
2 97 XTC's, 1 02 Viper ER longtracked, and I just picked up an 00 Venture 700. I laugh when people tell me that they wouldn't ride a sled with electric start and reverse. "To much weight. Messes up your handling, blah blah blah...". Look at my avatar. That is a little 90 hp 600 XTC being launched about 100 ft. out with my then 260 lb. body on it!!! Any of the guys from last yrs. TY ride can attest to how well my Viper runs. Oh yeah, they ALL have miror's too. I wouldn't own a sled without it. My Viper started REAL easy at -30 F. Just set the choke and turn the key! Some people would NEVER buy a sled with it. My wife loves it as well. She doesn't have to wait for me to start her sled, or get close to the gas pump. Once you've had it you won't want a sled without it.

My wife's sled has the electric start and reverse also. Guess what, so will my next machine!

Got electric start and reverse and it's great to have. I mainly got it for my teenage daughter and wife, but I like it now that I have it. It'll be on my next sled for sure.

Electric start is awesome. Never had reverse though. If I was looking at two sleds one with ES and Rev and the other without and they were close in price --- there is no decision to make. If it's the wieght you are concerned about, just push away from the table
