Recently a viper friend sent me the following warning/suggestion:
"Check your wiring harness down near the coolant tank and brakes, where the most common rubbing conditions occur. Additional areas to check would be under the motor and right out of the stator. So check those areas for rubbing and it would be a good idea to add wire loom to entire harness. Only takes 10 mins to remove all the ties and pull it out and put loom on it. Prior to checking this mine was shorting out (headlights cut in and out, motor would run funny, and my speedo would spaz out, end result burnt out speedo sensor,,,situation could have been worse). Wiring issues have been found in 02/03 viper models"
I have been riding for 9 years, keep up with the big dogs, and proud that I've never had any mishaps. Given that found it embarrasing when I recently hit a tree stump off the trail going maybe 10mph (damaged the trailing arm)....My speedo/digital readings were totally fliipping out and my eyes were on that instead of the trail. Of course, the guys gave me sh*t. After reading the email and this post,,,,I think it was a warning not to wait on checking the conditon of the wires and add that loom. Honestly don't know exactly what everything looks like, so PLEASE send me pictures sledchick@gmail.com
