does anyone know how much i can shave off my heads??i have a 99 sx700.help would be nice cuz i have no clue how much to get taken off. :2strokes:

Have you dont the head gasket mod yet?
If not I would suggest you start there. See the tech pages for details
 
yes head gasket mod is free and easier to do, and can easily be put back to stock. Check the tech pages, it really makes a noticeable difference.
 
i belive u can go up to a total not over 50 thousands. 9 thousands per gasket layer. 2 layers =18. i did a totla of 35 on my 500 and my brother went to 49 on his sxr 700 not on purpose he wanted 35 but the guy worped his head so he has to go toe 49 to clean it up. he ran it like that for 2 years. then after his sled has 4000 miles on the original rings he blew the motor. he alwasy ran 93 plus octane bost
 
best way to check how much u can tale is take ur plug out and take a pice of solder non flux core and bend it at a 90 stick it in the clinder and spinf the cluch and smush the solder and the check it with a pair calipers. and i think im not sure but atke like half of that.
 
ok i have a corection after checkin to see how much distance u have between ur head and ur pistion using the solder. then subtrack 50 thousands off of that number and and thast the most u can remove from the head including teh thickness of the gaskets. you need atleast a 50 thusands gap between ur head and ur pistion or u have to start runnin 110 oct. and the chance of blowing the motor increases dramaticly. i broght my 500 to a 60 thousands gap and my brothers was a 49 thousands gap. its around a 8 to 10 thousands shave depending on how close u wanna go. but do not go under a 50 thousands gap. this is all the info my brotehr just gave me i was a little fogy on the details but my brother had it done for me.
