Looking to see what other people have used for a Boss seat on their SRX. I am thinking of getting a flat top. I have a 2" bar riser...is this a good combination?

What are the Pros and Cons to a BOSS on an SRX?
Cons = Price, Pros = seating position more like newer sleds.

I myself don`t believe it will work real well. The old chassis are not rider forward so no matter what seat you put on there it won`t be like a new sled. But i bet it will make it much colder when it gets you up above the winshield even more...lol

Depends on the type of riding you do and how you want your sled set up. There are a few advantages to a Boss seat, looks, sticky seat material, seat flex adds to suspension and designable seating height. Other options include shovel and probe storage, nitrous storage and additional fuel storage. The high rise version is really designed for mountain riding where the rider regularily goes from a seated position to a standing position. A higher seating position makes getting up a lot easier. Also, since mountain sleds often have the handlebars lifted to provide a comfortable position while standing, its a good idea to lift the seat to match or you will feel like you are reaching too far up when seated on a stock height seat. BTW, the Boss high rise weighs just a little less than a stock seat on a Yamaha so the weight advantage is not a real consideration. Its my understanding that they fit in place of a stock seat so fit should not be an issue but I have never installed one on a stock tunnel. I will try to find you a couple of pics if you want them. Hope this helps you.

I think I have the solution....I'm going to give the short explanation because I just finshied last night and dont have any pictures.
I built a box to support the seat. The rise is 4 inches its not a wedge so the seat sits even. The seat when finished is 1-3/4" inches foward from the standard position. 4 ichs higher. I solved the trouble of gap between the seat and the tank by making a cover. The box is made of 1/2 plywood. The seat sits on the top of the box and the tunnel acts as the bottom so the weight it kept down. finished the sled now has storage of 15 wide by 26 long and 4 inchs high. The finish is nice and doesn't look hacked. I 'm going to get some pictures up soon.......The seat remains stock...so you can always go back to stock. The only thing I did to the seat was I removed the foam side supports because it felt too wide. the foam just slides in and out so its no big deal and they can always be put back in....I was thinking about selling kits... I have two srx's and they both have the high rise... hey when your looking at buying two 500.00 dollars boss seats...you get creative! I am only using a two inch bar riser and that has worked out too! the handle bars are moved up/forward so you only need a two inch..again pictures will tell a better story.... if I do sell them it will be cheap...it just time consuming to put them together.....your local so if you want you should come take a look...

also...the box is wrapped in back vinyl....looks nice...my sleds have a lot of miles but are super clean so I wasn't about to hack the sled to make this work.

Very interesting! I have thinking of doing something similar.
My understanding it is almost impossible to get a Boss seat right now anyways.
Sure would be nice to see some pics!
Thx
