Jackshaft?

Thanks guys,
Now I was wondering if anyone has one? I removed mine and it's shot, bearing surface is pitted from set screws being lose!

jackshaft question

I lost a jackshaft because of loose set screws in the bearing on the clutch side. I'm installing the new shaft and notice the bearing only floats in the clutch side holding bracket. Is this correct? After completing the chaincase assembly how do I determine where to position the bearing on the shaft?

The chaincase will hold the shaft where it needs to be, when the top gear is tight. tightening the set screw is the last thing you do when reinstalling the shaft.

Jackshaft

TrippleXXX I agree the shaft is positioned correctly with the chaincase. My question is the bearing can slide left or right about a 1/2 inch on the jackshaft inside the holding bracket. Do I just center the bearing inside the holding brackets and tighten the set screws? Thanks for helping.
