Well this project is getting about to the point of being to much. If I ever get my cylinders, I will need to know the answer to this ?. My old base gasket was a paper cardboard type gasket. The new one is a steel one like the head gaskets. It seems thinner. I run a peak head, will I now have a squish issue to deal with. I'm not buying 23.8 inserts for it. If this is another problem it will be in pieces on the garage sale by weds. Maxdlx

What sled is this? You can stack the metal base gaskets to raise your squish but it also raises your port timing.

well
Its a 97 700 sx. Why would they change gasket material. You think this was a aftermarket thick base gasket. I am not spending one more dime. Base gaskets are 37 bucks a piece, I'm in deep enough already. Maxdlx
