I bought a new belt for my '97 SX700. The old belt was worn to 33 mm and the belt is running below the sheave. The new belt I bought (Yamaha 8DN-17641-00) is only 33.5 mm not 35 like the specs call for. I have one set of spacers (I think the smaller ones). Should I look for a different belt? Will adding a thicker spacer bring this belt above the sheave or is there something I else I should do?
you can add a 1/2 washer to the sheaves too....was the old belt a 8dn or 8ch??

The belt was also an 8 DN. Is it a different width than the 8 CN? If so should any adjustments be made when using the 8 DN?
a 8dn is a stronger harder belt you might need more force to hold it....I can give you a pretty nice clutch set up for that sled...

I need that!
I've got the same rig, and I'm gonna need a belt, should I get the 8DN or the 8CH? If I should have the DN I would very much like that new clutching set up!

The 8 dn is the ticket....way better belt....do you want a clutch kit or just make the stock clutching work with the new belt

I will get you a good kit and then what to do to change the stock setup....actually Larry can sell you that too...he has the same one I would tell you and he can get the parts as well. Let me know if you still want the set ups??? or if you want to hit up Larry.

I would very much appreciate the clutch setting. One question I have about clutch setting is does driver size have anything to do with how I set my clutch? All dressed up for riding I am 240 lbs. Also I am running with a stock 3/4" track but will be upgrading to a 1 1/4" track.
Stock Clutching w/ 8dn belt change rollers to 14.5mm, rivets both holes 3.6g, if it overrevs then load the tip a tad heavier.
Perf clutching w/8dn belt, 8ab weights, 2.4g in both holes, 14.5 mm rollers, Y-S-Y sec spring, 1 engagement shim, 48/43 helix, green sec spring at 70. 1 piece head gasket, bore silencer, notch reed stoppers and jetting at 145 on #1 and 143.8 #2 & 3......then check the overrev...should be really close.
