my brother blew his front teact exchaner on his sxr 700. is it possible to by pass it adn get a srx heat exchaner for the rear? do u think that would be suficent cooling if he used that collent aditive that drops the temp buy 20 degrees? if not how hard is it to change the front exchanger it looks like a bi**h.

The front is the most effective. My thought would be to change it, although it will take you forever. Maybe you could find a way to add some exchangers under the tunnel like the Ski-Doo's and bypass it that way. Might be easier than replacing the front one, not sure if it would be the best for cooling, though you would be better off than without one! Good luck. Hope you figure it out.

thats what we were thinkin. he migh go try to get it welded. if not he said he might just by some ones of a skido like u said and put them in. thanks for the advice.

I had a Polaris XLT that same thing happened to. We bypassed it and it never overheats. This was 2 years ago and sled still runs fine. Even in warmer weather. Good luck in whatever you do!

see if you can get it welded in the sled, most of the time you can. You dont want to change that thing if you don't have to, BIG job

heat exchanger

My 98 Vmax threw a stub into my forward cooler last winter. I am putting a new track on and plan to have mine welded up. It would be alot of work changing it. The main thing is pulling the motor out if you change it.

to change it you need to tear the sled down to a bare chassis. No rear suspension, track, or drive axle, chaincase, no engine. Then you usually need a bottle jack or something similar to get the tunnel spread apart enough to drop the exchanger, that is after you have drilled out all the rivets. A lot of work, at least a case's worth. ;):D

pull the track and drive shaft and take it to a guy with a good TIG welder. My new Apex-GT just took something into the front exchanger and it's got a tiny leak. Last year a buddy had a Warrier and he tossed a stud into his and had it welded. A good welder will charge about 20.00 - 30.00 for this. Bring a pressure pump with you from the autoparts store so you can pressure test the weld. I am ripping my GT apart this weekend to fix mine. Doug
