Some of you may have noticed a post by a guy saying he would send the first 5 people a tool to open your carb heaters...for free!!! I was one of the lucky ones and wanted to post a picture of it for you guys to see. I'm not sure if he is going to market it, but it looks pretty cool and works great. This one is cut out of steel, but he mentioned that if he did market it...it would be out of aluminum. I can't seem to find the original post to give you his totallyamaha name

looks like a nice little tool, those things are always such a monster to turn after the sled is warmed up and the cooling system is pressurized.

too many engineers with too little time....haha, jk guys!!! great ideas!!! if ya got some free time, i'm lookin for a twin with no vibrations like the other makers, 800cc, fuel injection, about 220hp out of the box, and a much more simple drive system. that is, if ya got some free time!!!

an 800 with 220 horse out of the box? And we talk about F7's being unreliable and on the ragged edge?

I use one of those rubber straped wrenches (i think its called a mini boa) It works well cause it doesn't scuff the plastic and it has good leverage.

If i have to move them when they are hot i put a vice grip or pliers, closed, inside the knob and turn it. The triangle doesn't allow the pliers to turn so it turns the valve.

That tool made a little bigger, with the triangle being the center of the Tunning forks, would be the $hits. Maxdlx

When do you want the carb heaters on or off? What triggers the change?

Temperature determines when you should have your carb heaters on..... or off.

I believe Yamaha reccomends to have them on whenever the temp is below 0* F. I always left mine on unless the temp was over 30* F.

I've had mine on in all temps for over 10,000 miles and no issues.
