I had my dealer install reverse when new and had it back 2 times for not engaging when switching gears and sometimes popping out of gear. Both times he said it was the adjustment. It was never completely right but, now it’s getting really bad and coming out anytime I squeeze the trigger hard and wow what a horrible grinding noise ! The only adjustment I see is a turn buckle and I’ve tried moving it both ways with no luck ? The secondary to reverse gear box has about a 0ne and 3/8" play back and forth which seems excessive. I’m thinking I’ve ground off the gears in the reverse over the years ? Any help with adjustments or disassembly procedure would be a big help Thanks Chuck 814 226-1595 7-3 eastern

It's pretty easy to pull teh cover and see what's going on. Pull the muffler, use vice grips on the springs, and make sure you keep track of them. Once it's off, you should be able to see how to adjust the linkage, more or less. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply the reverse assembly is between the chain case and the driven clutch on the jackshaft and I'm not sure which side or both to start disassemble ?
