Storries about Yamaha

I think that's a good topic, but I can't think of anything. Although, I got in a tiff on the other site..ehemm, today. I'm not sure why I go there, it's always who's faster the who. Your sled is junk. Yamaha's blow. There too heavy, blah blah blah.

Well my friend has a '97 Ski-Doo 583. Always used to beat me last season... "yamaha's suck eh" he says. So this year i did a little tuning (pipes, clutch kit, carb tuning, new track) He is no where close to me. NO WHERE. Now that he has the word out that he can't beat me anymore I have another friend at school that wants to race me with his 600 H.O. SDI again from last year (1/4 mile). I'm a little nervous but I think if everything is spot on that day I may take him by less than a sled length lol. I will have to see and keep this post in mind.

must be hardcoresledder.com eh?
im always a prime defender there. you should see the names i call some of the cat guys. in the past i have used imbred hick, mouth breather and a few other good ones. they are just so crabby from all the problems they have. ;)!

Yep...HCS. n2o, yeh, if memory serves we've teamed up together on those hapmster wheel powered idiots. Go over there and sheck out the whipping I gave the guy who posted "where do you put your empty beer cans?" ...yep, WTF??? why would you post that? He then says...I put them in my belly pan. last year I blew a belt cuz of that duh. last I checked he fired back at me an then some other guy, that thought I was talking to him...hee hee. It's like 25 pages long now.

Im the king of defending Yamaha on HCS. My title on there says, "All the best stuff is made in Japan". Its kind of tongue in cheek but you wouldnt believe all the flack I take from people for that little phrase. LOL Its actually from the movie "Back To The Future". In one scene, the Doc and Marty are trying fix the Delorean and the Doc pulls some electronic part out of it and says, "No wonder why this part failed, it says MADE IN JAPAN!" Then, Marty kinda looks at the Doc with a confused look on his face and says, "Doc, all the best stuff is made in Japan!"
Anyways, Yamaha stories...I got one.
2 years ago I bought a '90 Phazer II. I always thought the Phazer were neat little sleds and always wanted one. I had the chance to buy one that was in good shape for a fair price, so I bought it. (Keep in mind now, I come from a family of DIE-HARD Polaris riders)
The first thing my dad said was how he thought it was a mistake to buy that Phazer. He told me that Yamahas get poor fuel economy and are unreliable.
Well, that winter I was the ONLY one in my family to not have some kind of mechanical problem. We had a headlight switch break in my mother's 600 XC ($80), my brother's 440 XCR lost an idler wheel (one of the wheels thats on the outside of the rear axle) and my father broke a driven clutch spring on his 600 XC.
Me, on the other hand, nothing. Gas 'n oil, thats it.
Well, my family slowly but surly came around to the fact that my Phazer was a nice little sled because they noticed that I wasnt anywhere near as sore as they were, and that I spent far less in gas than they did.
One day my father had to move my Phazer, and he commented how it was really torquey and that it was actually a nice sled.
My father still is trying to convince me that Yamaha isnt the way to go, but Im not buying it. He basically is always saying how he talked to some Yamaha engineer and how the guy told him that Yamaha has major problems with the Apex. You should know, he lives in Minocqua, WI so its entirely possible that he has talked with a Yamaha engineer.
True or not, I cant see myself getting another Polaris. Theres really no sled in Polaris' lineup that Id be interested in buying. Nothing against them, they are nice sleds, but Im not interested. Id love to have an RS Vector ER or a Nytro though!

i wouldnt get another polaris, they lost me after the edge and pro x. i will only consider yamaha and doo from now on.

From my first Yamaha in 1987 until the present I've always read and been told by my buddies how my Yamaha's would Not Perform with other sleds in their class...... over the years whenever I've lined up or played catch me if you can 9 out of 10 times the outcome is exactly the opposite ! ? !

Isn't it ironic? Just smile and say it must be some rogue Yamaha...LOL

my yami story

ill never forget the 250 bravo i owned when i was younger, i flew that thing of every hump full throtle every jump i can see, i rolled it 1001 times, broke hoods shifted motor one or twice, hauled loads of wood, other snowmobiles .ripped a 6inch rip in the track broke the suspension 3 times i cracked it off in the middle, the seat kept coming off, now its held on with a roll of duct tape. I pounded it purpsoly to see how long it would last. i had that machine for 2 full winters of torture and to this day my younger brother is still trying to kill it, i think theres more weldding and snear wire and duct tape on that thing then there is metal,
i never bought a new part for it all i did was rig it up to keep it alive for a little while longer.
for a long as i live ill never get rid of a bravo
i also had a 97 formula that only lasted me one winter i got rid of it because its a pos, never lasted anything it fell apart so i changed back to yamaha and bought a viper and nothing happened yet nock on wood, i guess nothing happened because i dont treat it bad but i bet if i did it would last just like the rest of the yamis

Correct me if Im wrong, but dont you have a Pro-X 700?
Personally, Id take Poo as my 2nd choice. They arent perfect but they are far better than Cat and Doo in my opinion.

Yes he does, he meant that since they got ride of the edge chassis and prox he wont get another polaris.

Where to start? All are these items are from buddies that ride AC. I am the only Blue in the group.

1) Clutch blew apart on a ZL600 about 20 miles into a trip - had to be towed into Baraga

2) Carbs frozen on a ZR500? about 5 miles into trip - took 1/2 hr to thaw them out with hot water from gas station

3) AC xxx? - Lost a secondary drive bearing and threw a belt - left sled on trail.

4) Buddies ZR600 or F7 can't remember - Had to have the red skis replaced due to recall on cracking due to ultravilot light damage - he found out about it after taking his 6 yr old niece for a ride down the road at 80 mph and noticed the cracks a day later when he got the notice - ickes

Mine may not be the fastest 600, but this little yammi has about 5K miles on it and the only thing that has broken has been the speedo! x-fingers

I have only had old sleds, but every year I get a new one.First I got a MF Ski Wiz. Never got it to run. Then I got a Arctic cat el tigre 340. It was nice but never got to ride it before I worked on it.Next I got a KAWASAKI Drifter. Now that was a pice. I must of rolled that thing a 100 times. Some guy(s) love them some guys hate em (ME).Then this year I got the YAMAHA Enticer 300 twin special. It snowed like 4in so I took it for a ride and when I pulled up in to the driveway she locked up, but I will never give her up. Since the day I seen one I new I wanted it. I found one for $300 so I got it.Im now putting a 340cc enticer motor in it. So I will let you guys know how it is when I get the motor from a fellow member on this site.

Ahhh, k.
I cant argue with him on that one. I like my EDGE and the 2 Pro-Xs we have in my family are nice, but Polaris doesnt have any sleds in their '06 lineup that really excite me all that much.
I rode an '05 Fusion last winter and was not impressed.
The Polaris dealer that I go through has commented that he has heard a lot of negative feedback from customers on the Fusion.

i have always liked polaris until the fusion. its heavier, ugly and reliability has been poor. so it looks like yamaha and doo are the only sleds on my list. as far as arctic cat goes, if someone offered me a strait up even trade on an 06 f7, i wouldnt even consider trading my viper or pro x on it. thats what i think of them! lol! :yrules:
