my brother just bought a 01 venture 700. but im mr. fix it so thats why im here. he seys he can only get it to do 70 mph on the lake? is that right? also is thier a diffrent clutch he can put on it to improve it and what would that do? when he bought it the guy said another yamaha sled had the same engine but more sporty clutch and he could put that on if he wanted to. any one know? thanks

what does it rev at wide open throttle from out of the hole to top end. You want to clutch that engine between 8400-8500 rpm all the way through.

i have no idea. i know it would'nt engage untill around 5000 rpm though

yea you're going to have to get us the rpms all the way through so that we know where to direct you. Is the guts in it now stock? (primary spring, rollers, weights, helix, secondary spring)

If it is only engaging at 5k you are having clutch problems or something binding. Get the clutch set up and let us know. Also lift the back end and spin the track by hand and make sure nothing is binding in the suspension or axle. My vote would be clutching but does not hurt to check if the track rotates ok.
