I was wondering what the CDI does with the signal from the thermoswitch that's located in the head. FWIW, it's on a 98 MM 700. My Clymer manual says that there should be no continuity below 98 deg celsius (I think). When this sensor connects, does it pull some timing, or does it just light the warning light in the dash? Reason I'm wondering is that I'm converting it to carb/efi and I need to read coolant temp....... If the sensor just trips the light or pulls timing above 98 degrees C, I'll just take it out and put in a different sensor. I don't want the CDI to go into some sort of backed off timing "limp" mode though if it's disconnected....
Thanks!!

It just lights the light. Paul

yup it doesn't pull any timing, keep running it when its overheating and it will blow soon enough. That being said, i have seen heads that got so hot in the yamaha triples that the powdercoating turned brown and the internals still looked great. Gotta love yamaha reliability and durability.

I was hoping that's what you guys would say! I was hoping that's what it did, but thought the CDI might use the signal since it is wired through it.....
Thanks for the info!
