Hey everyone this sled is new to me i have about 1000 miles on it since i bought it last spring. This year on the first ride after about 30 miles i noticed this noise it sounded like tang tang tang tang. it was when i was going about 10 miles an hour and was at night so i could not locate where the noise was comming from and it is not all the time. The next day i let it warm up and took it for a couple of speed runs and i tried to create the noise but i did not hear it. Lastnight i went for another run and after about 10 miles the noise came back for about 15 seconds. the power to the sled is the same. The sled has bender cluches, which ones i do not know and thats where i suppect the noise is coming from the primary clutch. I now its not from the engine because it is intermittent and i know it is not from the track because the noise comes from the clutch side.
Here is my question the only thing i can think that might have caused the noise is that i cleaned my power values and did not ajust them. When i cleaned them i made sure not to turn the values around i just removed them cleaned them and put them back in. Could, not ajusting the valves cause the noise by hitting the piston? Does anybody have any ideas as to what might be causing this noise. Or has anyone expericened strange intermittent noises from their SRX.
Any info would be much appreciated
Thanks

It's not likely that the valves are hitting the pistons. Sounds as if the weight bushings are wearing and need replaced. Take the clutch apart, pull the weights and then put the weight pin into the weight bushing and see how much "slop" you have. Sometimes they rattle really good(or bad).

Check your front heat exchange protectors. I had one come loose one time and it would knock against the bulk head. Drove me nuts trying to figure out where that noise was coming from.

yea i would inspect your clutch rollers and bushings. A little bit of slop and sideplay can make a lot of noise. A little clutch noise is normal, but check all your parts and make sure they are good.

Thanks for the replies i will check tonight to see if i have a loose heat exchanger also the thing behind the clutch, question, does the clutch need to be removed to check the allen bolt? also i'm not to good with clutches would i be able to notice if somthing is wrong without taking it off, moving the rollers how would i now if a bushing is bad?
P. S. today in Ottawa we just got a foot of snow and can't wait to go riding tonight.

If its only making the noise when the clutch is above engagement rpm it could be a bad belt mine has done that before and my buddies ac t-cat does it too when there is a worn spot on the belt

Thank-you to SRX700Andrew it was a heat exchanger sorry i did not post the fix earlier because of the Chritmas Holidays. I went over both clutches and replaced the buttons in the secondary and tightened up the track and just before i took the sled out of the garage i remembered SRX700Andrew saying to look for a loose exchanger and sure enough the top rivet came out and i guess snow would pack in and thast why i did not hear the noise all the time.
Just a word this is the best site i have ever been on and Thanks again to SRX700Andrew
