Need to replace the jackshaft bearing inside the chaincase on my '02 700 SRX. Do I need to completely remove the jackshaft, track, etc.. to do this. I ordered a manual about 3 weeks ago, still not in. We have about 12 inches of snow and the sled sits in the garage imobilized!!!
If you could scan me the page from a manual and email it to me I would owe you big-time....

well thats the driveshaft bearing your showing, no you dont have to pull anything, what you do need is a set of snap ring pliars to remove the snap ring holding the outer race in, remove snap ring then lightly tap the race each side till you get it free, I would then gently pry it out, place a small piece of wood or something between the prybar and the aluminum to keep from marring it up. Then you have to pull whats left of the inner race off the driveshaft, you may need to slice the race or just crack it with a cold chisel, they are hardened and break easily. Then sand each surface to clean it up, gently oil the other race, tap new bearing in and reinstall gear set, add oil, and your riding again

There's no doubt that with the bearing gone that bad that the seal is also gone. That bearing is going to be tough to get out. I'd just pull the chaincase and be done with it. You're going to need to put in a new seal anyway, I would guess, so have at it. You shouldn't need to pull the track and suspension, but you're gonna have to loosen the track a bunch to get the slack you need. While you're at it, change the bearing on the other side. Now would be the time to do it.
