I am planning on changing the track on my 93 Phazer (the old one is as smooth as a garbage bag) and I have heard that on some sleds you do not have to remove the chain case to do so. Is this true? Any info and help would be greatly appreciated.

The phazers I have done, I removed chain and gears, remove the speedo drive and the bearing on the drive shaft. The shaft slides out of the chain case down and out of the chassis. Be careful of the seal in the back of the chain case.

Should be a piece of cake.

I know that my wife's PZ500 only has 2 drive wheels on the axle instead of the 4 wheels on my V-Max. With the 2 wheel setup, and no heat exchanger in front of the axle, you probably CAN remove the bearing on the speedo side, then slide the axle to the left and out of the chaincase. (but I haven't done it myself)

If its the two driver system and doesn't have four it will slide in and out without pulling the chaincase. The only issue is track lug height. When you start trying to stuff 1", 1.25" in there with the 8 tooth drivers it is easier to pull the case as you get more movement when stuffing the track in. It's only 4 more bolts.
