Looking for some confirmation on my findings. Finaly got to run the 02 viper on the trail today, real sluggish off idle, but once the rpms are above 4000 it takes off like always. Ran great last season, did my normal summerizing. Anyway found out I'm idling on one cyl (#1 actually). No spark from cyl 2 and 3 at idle. Primary resistance and secondary resistance of all 3 coils is the same. So I switched the coils one at a time to cyl #1 and all 3 coils would work at idle, like I said off idle is great. I'm thinking the cdi is acting up. Thoughts anyone?
Thanks for any help..

did you try new plugs?sounds like they are fouled.
First, I'd like to know how you diagnosed the plugs not fring until 4000 rpm???? How about the pilot jets plugged in the carb on 2 cylinders and she comes to life when she comes out of that carb circuit???????? Sounds more believable to me.... Those pilot jets plug EVEN WHEN you fog and stabilize the fuel!!!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

Yeah your carb pilot jets sound plugged, if it is be careful running it the way you are, she'll blow!

Bluewho, Tried plugs, no change.
nosboy, think you might be right. I was back outside running the sled with it warmed up, idle great with the choke on first stop, crap when off (warmed up). I was expecting to see the spark when removing the wire from the plug, forgot these aren't car ignitions, thats how I came to the igntion. I'm going to go thru the carbs tomorrow. Thanks!

yup definately plugged pilots. This is about the 100th person with this issue so far this season. EVERYONE CLEAN YOUR CARBS BEFORE YOU RUN YOUR SLED. There, now no more issues
Its a good thing that plug didn't do some damage to your EGO!!!! I laugh my *** off when someone gets hit with a spark!!!!! Its not a very wise thing to do by the way!!!!!sometimes the coils cannt take it and it smokes them.. Try taking out the pilot jets and sticking a topch tip cleaner through them.. you probably won't see anything with your eyes,,but,,,they're plugged allright!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

I found that if I look through the pilot jet into a light I cannot see light until they are cleaned. I sprayed mine with air and just to double check I looked through them and nope no light I had to work on one particular jet a little to finally get her to flow again.

it must be the warm summer all the old gas has made the carbbolls go green going to make some popcorn pistons.

right on kinger, you can see through them looking into light if they are clean, that is what i always do.
