94 Vmax 600

I was wondering if a jackshaft from a '96 VMax 600 would fit my '94 VMax 600? I know that the '94 has 2 pieces (one to the secondary clutch, and it connects to the one in the gearcase) - and the '96 is a single shaft. Removing the short shaft in the gearcase and using the single shaft - will it work?

sent you a pm - I'm trying to find an alternate reverse gear shaft for my 95 vmax 600 - did you replace both shafts with one? any help is greatly appreciated!
