Anyone know any good spring pre-load settings Viper?
I need help guys. I have an 2003 Viper with the updated shocks. The front end is saging too much and I am loosing my travel. The center shock is not tight enough as it not rebounding fast enough and is coulping the skid too soon.
Bruce at Pioneer gave me these specs.. I am not sure what to measure though. I know this is with no weight on the machine.
Front ski shocks. 10 1/8th
Center shock 8 3/16th
Rear shock 14 5/6th
Control rods 60/40
How do I measure this ?
I am bringing in to get done wed. I want to make sure they can set it up right. I picked up a 54/43 helix and a green spring as well. What should I get them to wrap the spring at?
Thanks
Troy

I can't answer the suspension questions, but I left my spring wrap at the stock position, in the #6 hole on the secondary. So far, I am very happy with that clutch set up. Props to Turk for his advise on this site.
Hope this helps.

Is your sled studded? How much do you weigh with all gear? You wrapped it 60 or 70 degress? Thanks for the reply. Is the sled any faster? Hows the over rev?

It's funny I noticed the same thing with the Viper updated shocks. The problem is the updated shock and spring package uses a straight rate 2.3 kg/mm rate center skid spring but the front Ski springs are progressive rate. These progressive wound springs give you 15-20% sag. Coupled with the sraight rate update spring I felt the machine always wanted to nose dive in the bumps, To cure it I had to suck the skid frame up and lose the center skid frame travel. I eventually went back to Re-valved original shocks and springs. Even with that I haven't been happy.
This year I tried to a straight rate 2.8kg/mm front skid frame spring with 2.3 kg/mm sraight rate front shock springs. I went for the first 90 mile tug hill ride yesterday. What a difference in the sled. This thing flat out rocks in the moguls. I think I could probably go a little softer on the front shock springs but what a difference. The secret is to eliminate that 20% sag in the front. Take a look at the ViperS. Everyone loves the ride of ther viper S it uses straight rate springs in the front and center. I finally after 3 years feel confident on the machine in all conditions. It depends on your riding style. If you ride flat trails and want the absolute best handling high speed trail machine run the progressive wound springs and accept the fact it's not as good in the bumps or try the straight rate springs. I'm amazed at the difference.

It rode better after the updated shocks were put in. The problem is that the front shocks sag real bad after one season of riding. I'm loosing too much of my travel with just the weight of the machine. I am going to bring the specs that Bruce gave me to the dealer and see what sense they can make out of it.

what rode better in the center spring, the 2.3 or 2.8? also how was the slow speed ride with each?
anyone know what to do with my springs?

I believe those are installed spring lenths with the sled suspended in the air (i.e. no weight on the suspensions, or free length)
