help on gears please!

I have a 2000 yamaha v-max 700 deluxe and i am getting new gears but i do not now the width or the spline i know the top is: 22 and i going to a 20 tooth... but i need to know what the spline and width.... any help would be awsome

well if you're changin the gears you always could get a thicker one...for my sxr i went to a 21/40 and 70 link chain, and 15plate wide

as for the spline i dunno what you need

just take it out and count it. i think its 13 plates wide not sure. but for the gear just flip teh sled on its side pop the case and gear off count the spline groves sould only take liek 10 mins maybe 15.

they are 13 plate width. Yamaha and polaris use the same splines. Just make sure if you get polaris gears you get them both and a new hyvo chain, because polaris has used hyvo for many years, and it is not compatible with the yamaha silent chain, so you gotta change both gears and the chain. 00-02 srx's and the vipers use hyvo chain and gears (15 plate width), so that is another option, although yamaha gears are quite a bit more expensive. EPI also makes great gears and chains.
