does anybody know how to use the yamaha clutch aligment tool. I replaed my belt this year with the stock yamaha belt, and its sqeaking bad at idle to engagement. I was told to buy the tool and check, but I DONT KNOW THE PROCESS, ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THE SLED IS A 2001 SRX 700, THANKS.

One part tis a bar with two half circles set once side on the primary and the other on the jackshaft, if not correct start removing things till you can get to the motor mounts and set it properly.( this sets your center to center distance)

The other part is tool that is placed on the backside of the primary to check for proper offset. offset adjustment in structions will be provided by others or can be found in the service manual.

big b, the squealing is from the belt being new, unstretched and not worn side to side. there are three screws on the back of the secondary they wil have washer(s) under them, remove a washer from each screw, it will open the secondary to allow belt to sit in lower (acting as a longer belt) your squeal should disapear. you are adjusting the belt deflection. you can buy a belt defection adjuster that mounts on the secondary to quick adjust this as well. (about 40.00) max perf has them richie rich sells them. it is not the center to center or offset causing the squeal but it should be checked none the less. not sure where you live, but if you dont live too far i could show you how to do the offset and c to c with the proper tools. ski

Thanks, erik and ski. Im going to try the washer removal tonite, then check the aligment when my dealer gets my tool in. I live about 20mi north of detroit, and being I never heard of the county you are from, im guessing its not close but I really appreicate the offer. Im just glad that this site is here, and so many people are willing to help novice sleders like me, thanks again.

big b, i live between flint and lansing in a little town called laingsburg. not too awful far from detoilet. LOL! i'll see if i can write up a tech article on how to do the offset and c to c for the group for the tech pages. i have the tools already. i am guessing if you arnt burning up belts at an alarming rate your specs are fine. ski
