Viper gearing?

I have a Viper with CPR pipes, stock gearing. Off the top of my head, I think its 22/38. Been too long since I've been in there. Most of our running/racing is about 1,000 ft. give or take at wide open throttle. I have a 20 tooth and was wondering what if any gains could be had with that gearing combo? Would it be topped out in that distance? Sled is also used for everyday trail running. Anybody have any feedback?

I tried 20/38 gearing for a while, low end is amazing but did better at the race track with 22/38. I spun too much and lost a nice bit of top speed so I put the 22 back in. At 660' I lost about 5 or 6 MPH with the 20T. I'm concidering going even a higher with a 23T gear.

Mark I don't think you can get fully shifted in 1000 feet. Use a black marker on your primary and see how high the belt comes up. What track are you running? Hope its not that jokahama! --Mac--

I will have to get it in there at some time or another. Just a pain working on the sleds out in the cold air. lol I've got a whopping zero miles on so far. Only like playing with the clutches when its cold. :-)

Hey Mac, thought I recognized that sled before. Just watched some Lawton races the other day. I'm using the Yokohama on the Viper, works pretty good. Don't have any trouble with the usual suspects of F7's, 800 HO's, & ZR's. Sled engages real low and they blow their tracks out in the snow. haha It should be ready to ride next week, been a little behind the eight ball this winter.

you will fully shift out in 1000' in good conditions on snow, i wouldn't go any less than stock unless you have excellent traction, you will just lose it at the line anyway if you gear down.
