You should just cheat like I did and call tom hartman at Hartman Inc and get a custum set up from him. I got a custom helix, primary and secondary springs, and new rivets for under $200 to my door. It would have been cheaper to purchase the items separately but I have no problems what so ever for paying extra for someones knowledge and expertise.

02' viper with 141 2" .i run 22 42 with 8 tooth drivers ~(20/42 with 9's)~ and hole shot is great but top speed suffered...not a big deal when we mostly boondock anyway....

Add up the two numbers of the gears 21+40=6103viper159 said:did u guys have to get a shorter chain to go to 20
If you're 61 and up, you can use the stock 70L chain. 60 and less=68link chain.
I've got 19-42 with the 8 tooth 3.0 pitch drivers and a 162" attack 20. When I had the 9 tooth 2.52 drivers, the 19-42 worked well also @ 2.21:1 ratio
If you've got 8 tooth, I think that 21-42 @ 2.25:1 ratio works well and you can still use the stock chain.
Stock mtn vipers are 21-40 gearing @ 2.14 ratio. I'd go bigger on the bottom, before going smaller on the top, that way you don't need a new chain.
Hope this helps. There's also a good gearing chart on Mtn Performance's website
