im in need of some advise. my 99 srx has a few problems and i was wondering how to fix it. a rod bearing went out on the middle cylinder and also the piston and rings. a guy gave me an estimate of $1200 to fix it. is that alot or what.

At least $500 for parts, another $150+ dollars for the crank work, $200 for the cylinder repair. The rest would be labor. I'd say he's fairly close. Anybody else want to gestimate this?

yea that sounds fairly close to me as well. A lot of busy work when the crank needs to be done.

Id maybe look on ebay or here on this site for a crashed srx sled. Id bet you could do a complete motor swap for less money, or even if its around the same price at least youd have left over spare part to either get some of your money back or keeep for spares

There was a complete motor on this site a few days ago for $800 in Michigan. Might be the better way to go. Then sell yours for what you can get for it.
