I'm looking to upgrade my 99 Vmax sx600 triple.
My main goals are to be able to ship around my snocros track, not win a championship. And to keep up with friends on the lake, not be king of the drags.
Suspension: The stock sled of this gen sits rather low and is prone to hang ups.
For longer rear travel I was told I could salvage a rear skid off a newer long travel SXR and it will just bolt on. Will this give some added ride height as well? And can I still use my stock track? How about the skid off a viper, is heavy modification required?
Also, what sled should I look to for my front suspension? I want added height and travel.
Engine: I was told I could just use triple pipes off of a 700 and I will get added horsepower, etc... Should I look for triple aftermarkets? or would the 700 pipes be good enough? Aswell I will want reeds, etc... how about a thinner head gasket? I assume this will require immediate rejetting.
I considered a big bore kit, but it's no in the budget ATM
Clutching: Heel clickers, weights and a helix. What combo will give me the best all around use. More bottom end punch and a bit more top end would be nice.
Jetting I will have to figure out on my own. I can jet a dirt bike, now I just need to times that by 3
Any ideas to make my sled more fun? I'm on a budget and would like to get as many used wrecker parts as I can. Fabrication is an option, but the less the better. My main goal with this sled is more fun!
