Anyone Got A Pic Of The Gutted (cut) Airbox Mod For An Srx700( 98 ) Im Curious To See What It Looks Like I Have The Cold Air Kit But Im Not Sure If Mines Gutted Or Not? Is It They Cut Out The Panel In The Airbox Where The 3 Slots Are And The Throttle Cables Go Thru In Between These Slots Or Is It Something Else

31 Views And Not One Reply ?? Is It That Stupid Of A Question??? The Reason Im Asking Is I Am Running Way Rich As Per Reading My Plugs And I Figure If I Do This Mod They Require You To Jet Up The Mag Side Cyl From 152.5 To 147.5 And The Others(center And Pto) Stay The Same @150 But If Im Way Rich Now Then I Might Not Have To Rejet Right??? Any Answers/suggestions Would Kick ***!!!

I don't recommend it. Take the shelves out if they are still in there, but I would not cut the airbox top at all. The only time I burned up SRX's was when I started to dick with the airbox. Not enough if any gain for the trouble it can cause. Just get it jetted right with airbox in place and run it.

i have a gutted air box.. never had any problams over this way! so does Powervalve-700

Yeah I've done it, I'll have to find a digital camera this week and take some pics for ya. I'm jetted 4 sizes bigger, just to be safe. For some reason when you tinker with the 98's they are a little more tempermental then other years so you can't let it sit and ideal...lol I'll also have to take another look at the plugs to see how they're burning...

Thanx much! mine is not like that it only has the holes in the hood not in the airbox!! which means im gettin out the hole saw ...lol I may have to rejet but ill try her for a few see how shes runnin Thanks again !!!!

Yeah no problem, I jetted mine 4 sizes larger. Can't let it sit there and Ideal thou....lol Good luck and Merry Christmas...
