Sorry, you need to measure them in the inside of the engine side or outlet of the carb. You must be measuring the intake or inlet size. The outlet id is in the 32-34mm range. Why do you think people like to install vmax 38mm carbs on them, besides the fact that they are easier to tune? Because they are bigger 38 mm size.
As a matter of fact, I decided to start the old sled today and clean the carbs. Measured the ID on the engine side of carb : 37.92 mm. I don't want to start an argument here but they are 38 mm carbs. That's why Bender had 38mm flatslide kits for phazers. The TMs were easier to tune the midrange lean-ness and had a bit more flow on the top end. If they were 32-34mm you would need new carb boots. BTW vmax carbs are 36mm since 1994 unless you're talking about the roundslides on the old 540.

Well you are right that the carb outlet is 38mm but if you look closely at phazer carbs the venturi has a hour glass shape and at the very center of the carb where the primary nozzle is it measures 32mm. If you like you can look at the phazer carb bulletin in the tech pages to see a nice cross section of the carb.
Phazer95 you are correct, the bore is smaller inside the carb. I just wanted to make sure Creamz would not go looking for 32mm carbs if his intent was to replace them.
