When I take of from a dead stop the rpm's jump to 8200 then they creep up to 8400. Is this where I want to be? I have a 22 tooth upper gear instead off the 23 tooth stock gear. I was wondering how many mph difference there is between the two?

sounds like it is right on the money the gearing depends if you have picks, your wieght, your clutching and so on.you could be loosing 3 or 4 mph but better holeshot if on bare ice top end,and you could be faster on a snow packed lake.there is gearing charts but with 1 tooth differance the variables will come into play.

I agree with Blue. But your gain will probably be a quicker sled, but not a faster sled overall. The race is always the quickest sled, not the fastest. If you're racing down the lake forever, somebody will eventually come around you. Always be ready for your own kind of racing.
