well i thought i had a problem tuneing my twin pipes so i took them of and went back to stock.i still had a rough idle but it would run good when i rode it,i don't know how.i checked my compression and had 0 on the pto side,so i took off the head and found a nice divit in front of the exhaust.

i had a broken seal ring on the exhaust manifold(with the twin pipes)would this have caused the piston to melt?before i tore it down i tried the starting fluid trick to check seals and found no rpm change.

does anybody have a cylinder and a head that would fit a 96 500 vmax?before i pay 250 bucks or more from central or somewhere else ?

this really sux there calling for snow this weekend here.darn twin pipes.

to clearify the corner of the piston burnt up right in front of the exhaust port.that allowed the rings to come out of the groove.looks like the top ring folded up and trashed the cylinder.the head is pinged up from metal scrap.i think it was caused by an exhaust leak from the manifold to the block.
