i have a friend that brought his phazer over,i did the carbs, compression is good, pistons r in very good shape and reeds also.but when i start it , it only runs on the mag side. there is spark althow not sure if it could be strong enough.but he was telling me today that it was doing that last yr.it would run on one piston for a bit then it would be fine after it warmed up.anybody had this kind of problem before? thanks.

easiest way to tell if its a spark problem on the old sleds is to reverse the coil wires on the spark plugs, if it kills the other side, its spark related, if it doesnt, you need carb work.

thanks bud,i tried that and its not electrical,i tried a few other things and it seems like that cylinder floods itself on the pto side,i never had the chance to check any further cause she picked it up today.to her its no big deal cause she says it will run on one sometimes and then its ok after 15 min. or so. i was thinking maybe fuel going in the crankcase from the impulse line but the impulse line is connected on the mag side of the case or there would me something stuck between the needle and seat but then why would it only do this once in a while like she said?? anybody have any clues? thanks

Pls check the fuel pump asap. This happened to me a few years ago : fuel pump diaphragm was ripped and whenever the sled was parked for a long time, fuel would seep through the impulse line and fill the crankcase. I must have used the electric start once cause it nicely bent a conrod. Wouldn't even create enough compression to ignite the cylinder at all... time for a teardown.
So check this asap, if it's working on 1 cylinder all the time the damage might have already been done. If not make sure you remove the plugs before trying to start the sled, see if gas is spewing out the plug holes.
Good luck

yes compression was checked, both were at 120lbs,i was wondering if the fuel could be going back threw the impulse line but the thing is the impulse line is connected on mag side and the problem is on the pto side?????

Only other thing I can think of would be the needle and seat being worn in the carbn
